Vanderburgh County REACT is looking for a few good men and women to help in our mission to provide quality 2-way radio communications support to our community.  You must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Age Requirement: Adult members must be 18 years or older, Junior members must be at least 14 years old and have their parent or guardian’s permission to joint.  Junior members below the age of driving may need to have a parent or other adult guardian join as well.   

Our events are serious, and the training is not always easy, but we try to enjoy ourselves and have fun, while remaining safe.

Uniforms: REACT Uniforms are not provided, but are required for most events.  Information about our uniform shirt will be provided upon acceptance of membership.

Annual Dues: We do charge dues on an annual basis, with members joining mid-year (after June 30th) paying a pro-rated amount.

Insurance: REACT maintains liability insurance to cover our members and our team from 3rd party claims and lawsuits.  This insurance does not cover your personal equipment or vehicle, and does not replace any insurance that you may need for yourself.  It does not provide any medical coverage.

Non-Profit / Tax Deductions:  Members are generally able to deduct their REACT related expenses for equipment, uniforms, travel expense, and other items allowed by the IRS on their annual personal tax return, provided of course they can use the itemized long form instead of the standard deduction.  Businesses and individuals donating $$ or material to our REACT Team can deduct the value in accordance with current IRS regulation.

Radio Licenses: You do not need to be a licensed radio operator before joining, but you will be encouraged to obtain any needed licenses to expand your own ability to communicate, such as in the Amateur Radio Service.  Use of any GMRS Radio require an FCC license, as does the Amateur Radio Service.  FRS and CB Radios do NOT require you to obtain an FCC license prior to operation.  Any expenses / fees associated with obtaining such licenses are the responsibility of each member.

Radio Equipment:  While we sometimes have a limited number of UHF radios (on REACT’s repeater frequency) to loan out to members, our members are encouraged to purchase their own radios for their private use. We do not have any Amateur Radios for loan.  REACT maintains a UHF repeater for Team use, located on the west side of Evansville.
